Dear Roofing Guy,
When I called you on Monday and you said you'd be by on Tuesday or Wednesday? I actually believed you. I even gave you Thursday for good measure. Now? Now it is Friday. I'm moving on to the next guy.
If you didn't have time to get to me, didn't want to climb up on my steep roof, or didn't want to be bothered with a repair, the polite way to blow me off would have been to tell me you were too busy to get to me any time soon. So now? Now when I'm ready for the big job of a completely new roof, which will be within the next year, you won't be getting a call for the job. I thought I mentioned to you we'd be looking for estimates for that big job too...guess you must have forgotten that part.
Thanks,
Grumpy Homeowner

You know, it's really incredible in this economy how some contractors treat potential business. I tend to believe it's less about them being really busy and more about people who have no idea how you earn customer trust, thus more business. I hope you found someone better to come take a look at the roof!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but sadly, I think the key word here is "guy". It really seems to me that ______er "guys" just don't have the the same level of importance on getting back to the customer when promised. Maybe I'm profiling here...I do watch waaaay too much Criminal Minds...but I think that's a lot of the problem. I'm just sayin... :)
ReplyDeleteIt's astounding how some people run their companies in this economy! You'd think they'd want any job they could get!
