When I'm not being put off by the fact that my husband didn't wipe the counter or was completely oblivious to what I was saying to him, I can sometimes recognize the prince he can really be.
While many of my girlfriends have husbands that come home and ask "what did you do all day?" because they actually want to know what got done, mine asks that question simply to see how my day was. He couldn't care less if the laundry got ignored because I went out to lunch with a friend or decided to read a book.
While I have friends whose husbands expect a hot meal on the table every night, mine just feels lucky to be fed. Seriously, its true.
And on that topic of being fed do you know what he said to me? Something I never ever in a million years thought I would ever hear. He was complaining that there was too much food in the house and that I've been cooking too frequently. He wants a leftover night to catch up on all the meals I already made. What? Am I on candid camera? Nope, he actually said it and meant it. I had planned on making dinner tonight but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Leftovers it is. And I'll be sure to remind him of this conversation the next time he complains there is no food in the house.

I have to say....my man is a lazy little booger most of the time. but he is generous when it comes to understanding me.
ReplyDeleteIts the little things in a marriage that make it work, just like that.
ReplyDelete...your husband sounds like my husband. :)
what an awesome man :)
ReplyDeletemy hubby is similar ... he doesn't care what I did or did not do as long as I remembered to pay the credit card bill he left on the staircase before he drove off to work ;0)
I think our husbands must secretly be the same man. I feel blessed every day.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a real prince to me - Hubby loves a home cooked meal but is just as satisfied if we eat out - or horror upon horrors I ask him to take care of dinner. I did this the other night so that I could take my oldest out for a bike ride - came home to Cajun shrimp and baked potatoes!
ReplyDeleteExcellent :) Like you, I'm so happy that DaddyMac doesn't care what we are eating so long as he is eating something. My house was NOT like that growing up and I totally could not be married to someone who expected me to be in the kitchen for hours cooking a gourmet meal every night! LOL!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I had a big talk after living together a year or so where I was whining about having to get dinner ready and so forth, and he said, "I never asked you to do that. I don't EXPECT you to do that." It was a huge "aha moment" for me. I was putting that pressure on myself, and he truly didn't care if we had bologna sandwiches or whatever. Now we share cooking pretty equally.
