About a Girl Named B

I tried to think of a way to turn this into an elegant post about me.  However, the harder I tried the worse it sounded.  So here are some random facts about me that aren't on my About Me page.

I love the color purple.  And turquoise and hot pink.  I love the 3 together.  My room was turquoise when I was younger, I mean a dark turquoise that took my mother 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of paint to cover up when I moved out.  None of those colors are currently in my house however, I do own several items of clothing in those colors.

I played the flute for over 9 years.  I swore I wanted to go to Juliard.  I haven't touched my flute in over 10 years.

I grew up with 2 beagles.  I loved those dogs.

I always wished I had a sister.  I only have a brother who is 6 years older than me and even as adults we don't have much in common.  I feel bad that I didn't give my daughter the sister I always wished I had had.  She has two big brothers who haven't learned the value of a sister yet.  Being they are so close in age I'm sure they will find her value when they are in high school and she is bringing home cute friends.

I have played every trick in the book to get out of going to school.  My kids won't be able to get anything over on me.  The fact that I've tried it all and I'm a nurse...they are screwed big time.

I'm lazy.  Really really lazy.  Seriously, you can't imagine how lazy.

I don't invite people over to my house too often.  It's because I hate to clean and my house always looks like 3 tornadoes went through followed by a bomb.  People say they don't care or judge your house but I don't believe them.  I say I don't care what people think but I'm lying.  So it is just easier to keep the front door locked.

I am terribly shy.  People who know me don't believe this.  However, I've learned to overcompensate for my shyness in most situations and so I come off much more outgoing than I actually am.

I can be terribly passive aggressive.  It is an awful thing.  I really need to work on that.

I was born and raised and still live in New Jersey.  I don't resemble any of the freaks on any of the reality shows you've seen based here in Jersey.

I am not a morning person.  I don't mean that I'm a bit grumpy.  I mean don't speak until spoken to and even then tread with care.  I'm a nasty little thing when I'm tired.

I am still searching for my dream job.

I always wanted 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls.  We stopped at 3.  Pregnancy wasn't kind to me.

I married the baby of 8 boys.

I love to read but I stick to mindless fluff 99.9% of the time.

I have a quick temper.

I'm running out of things to tell you.

Now that I have told you all about me, tell me something about you!  Leave a link so I can come by and say hi!

  1. Wow! I'm shocked that I can relate to so many things on this list! I am also passive-aggressive, shy with the ability to not appear so, not a morning person, reading, wanting a sister...Although, I'm not not from NJ and I don't watch those shows!

  2. Wow...I'm terribly passive/aggressive at times also! And I also don't believe what people say about houses. I most often won't let anyone in mine, either.

Just came over via Mama Kat's!

    And about me?
I am not a morning person either... at all. As my husband :)

  4. I can most relate to not having people in the house and laughed when you said you just keep your door shut.

Hello from another Jersey Girl who is absolutely normal. No tans, no popping out of my wardrobe, no weird accent, no big hair here!

  6. Nodding along as I read thinking we have a lot in common.

  7. I'm reading a F. Scott Fitzgerald book that is out of my comfort zone. I've found that it doesn't make any sense if I try to read while the kids are awake. I need complete silence to read this book.

  8. I love bold, bright colors. My house looks like a crayon box blew up. It makes me happy!

  9. Nodding to myself as I read through your list - so many things in common! My house is a mess too - I only clean when people are coming over, which isn't too often ;-) I'm a reluctant cook, love traveling, reading and photography, and am super-duper lazy!

  11. I'm shy like tha too! Most people don't think I am, but I often don't share the "real" me with people until I feel really comfortable.

  12. Oh My, my spirit is L-A-Z-Y, but my body just can't sit still. I long for the couch and a good book, or the feel of my knitting needles between my fingers, or the click of my keyboard keys. My days are filled with managing the crazy train of toddlers, preschoolers, and school agers through potty training, playdough, practices, and pajamas... then
    I
    CRASH!

  13. I had three brothers and no sisters, so I understand your loss there. Luckily, I have four daughters. God made it up to me. But I have just one boy, so I have somewhat of an idea of his life.

And I really don't care what your house looks like. I'm not lying.

  14. After two little brothers, I finally got the sister I'd always wanted. Unfortunately, I was nearly 14.

I have the same issue with my not quite hoarders disaster house. Hey, 5 kids will do that. Much sympathy and understanding!

  15. Stopping by from SITS. I love your list about you. My son prayed for a sister from the time he was in kindergarten. I think by the time he hit 4th grade he had forgot about that prayer - and then WHAM!! He found himself almost 10 yrs old with a squalling baby sister. I am not sure that is what he had in mind. But two years later, he is really good with her.

Your daughter will have some fierce protectors.

  17. Cool list :) I love posts like this, in some strange, minute way it helps you really get to know the writer!

  18. Aww, I can relate to many of the things you shared. But what really hit home is the fact that I have only one sibling, a brother who's 5 years younger. We really have nothing in common and aren't all that close. I'm not sure why. :(

Stopping by to wish you a happy SITS day. It's great to meet you. Have a good one...

  19. I can relate to so many things on your list!

I don't recommend talking to me in the AM until I've had a shower. Definitely lazy. Hate cleaning. Shy...

    Have a great SITS Day!

  20. Can I still call you Bat Cave now that I know your first name? I'm Journey2Ithaca on Twitter. We twit at each other almost daily. Besides, I like having a buddy I can call Bat Cave. Did you know that not too far from me is a place called Bat Cave in North Carolina? I'm serious. It's near Hendersonville on the western side of the state just off I-26. I think of you when I see the exit sign to Bat Cave as I'm on the way to Hendersonville to see my father-in-law. Hope this wasn't too much information. Lisa a/k/a Journey2Ithaca
