Grocery shopping is among my least favorite chores. Recently I have found myself in the grocery stores a lot. I just can't resist, they have had some fantastic sales and I've been stocking up on summer essentials such as snacks, drinks and pantry must haves. This has left me happy with the bargains I've been getting but cranky at the other shoppers.
One of my biggest pet peeves in the grocery store is not being able to get down the aisle. This can occur for a few different reasons. Sometimes the store puts out obnoxious displays that take up aisle space making it impossible for two carts to fit down the aisle. The other reason is people don't know how to politley browse the shelves.
Let me explain how it is done people. Pull your cart over as close to the shelf as possible. Then look for what you need, put it in your cart, and be on your way to the next aisle.
Do NOT park your cart in the middle of the aisle, do NOT put is sideways across the aisle, and if there is someone already "parked" on the other side of the aisle do NOT stop yours right next to them. These things all make it impossible for ME to get around YOU.
Then when you see me trying to get around you, please have the courtesy to move your cart. Do not pretend you don't hear me say excuse me and do NOT make me move your cart. And if I do have to touch your cart, DO NOT give me a dirty look! YOU ARE THE OFFENDER IN THIS SITUATION!!
Then when it comes time to checking out, please have your courtesy/savings card and your coupons ready. And please for the love of god, who still pays with checks these days??? (and if for some reason you still are, you don't actually have to take the time to fill it out, the register will do that for you. All you have to do is sign it) My patience are melting right along with my frozen food.
Seriously people, its all about being aware of your surroundings and common courtesy.

The worst thing I've experienced at a supermarket was someone stealing my cart of groceries - they wanted the cart, not the food - at a crowded store because there were no free carts left! Luckily I'd taken my purse out! I hate rude shoppers, too.
ReplyDeleteLol! Girl, I totally get it.
ReplyDeleteAnother peeve of mine? When the person in front of my stops. Then the person on the other side stops. So there is NO way around them...ugh.
I get so annoyed at the rudeness of others...and then they always act so annoyed at us?! Lol!
HA! I love it! Recently I went off my ppd meds too early.....and the result was a whole lotta anger. I am telling you, me+grocery stores was a bad bad bad situation

ReplyDeleteJune awards 4 u,
Enjoy!
;)
I am your follower.
Very funny! I can soooooo relate! Thanks for giveing something to smile about today. :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! I did not know it was possible to have cart rage... he he he. I shop in the morning with my kids because it is less crowded and the only people we run into are elderly so I can usually out shop them (unless I knock over a display with my rotund 9 month pregnant belly). I had a lady ram into my cart (that had a newborn in a carseat fastened inside) and then she pushed her cart by mine scraping my fingers. I was on the verge of tears and afraid of committing murder so I said "Next time just ask me to move out of your way and I will gladly do it...". I then hurried out of the aisle before I poked her eyes out with my keys. This was an incident caused by one of those lovely displays in the middle of the aisle for Cocoa Crunchies or some other sugar laden cereal. Hmmm... thanks for letting me vent and get that out, I feel better already. :) Great post!
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE THE OFFENDER IN THIS SITUATION!!
ReplyDeleteI want that as a bumper sticker, lol
Stopped by from SITS to say hi, look forward to reading more.
Haha! Just went to the grocery store today actually...SO TRUE about paying with checks these days. It's not like the stores cash them anyway -- they use them as debit!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS! Can't wait to read more! :)
LOL.....good post!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS!
Dawna, my cart rage is definately worse than my road rage! Ha!

I have issues with carts in the aisles too. I also feel that if I am walking my two year old down the aisle it isn't fun playing chicken with your cart. Stopping from SITS!
ReplyDeleteThis is great. I think they should pass this out at the front door!!! Thank you for stopping by my blog for the SITS potluck!!
ReplyDeleteGreat article. U forgot my 2 biggest supermarket pet peeves. People who run into you with there cart since there not paying attention to wtf there doing, and the BIGGEST one, people who insist on power walking past you then stop or turn arround right in front of you then give you a dirty look. And now that i have a torn MCL in my knee i walk with a heavy limp and you can clearly see the leg brace since i always wear shorts, the frequency of this happening has gone up insanely. Trying to stop midstep to avoid someone who stops in front of you or that hit from a cart really hurts like a mofo, and dont give me an evil eye when i proceed to bitch you out for being a moron. They really need to mail out supermarket ettiquette flyers at least monthly.
ReplyDeleteOne of my biggest pet peeves is when the lines are 8 miles long, there's is only 2 checkout lines open, and there are 40 store employees wandering around aimlessly!
ReplyDeleteI shop in the early morning or late a night to try and avoid most shoppers...it's like the movies there are rules you should follow.
ReplyDeletewho does pay with a check? probably the same people that actually have cash on them...
