Terrific Tuesday...Pinewood Derby Edition

My boys are in Cub Scouts and each year our big pack event is the Pinewood Derby.  This year our Pinewood Derby was snowed out.  My boys were very disappointed because they had worked a long time cutting, sanding and painting their blocks of wood and turning it into their masterpiece car.  Well tonight we finally got our chance to race those cars. 

You know what?  It was pretty terrific.  It's a great night where the entire pack comes together and brings their excitemtent.  The boys are proud of the cars they turned out and wait in anticipation to see how they will fair on the track. 

My boys each came in 2nd place in their dens.  They are both thrilled and were able to go to bed with smiles on their faces.  This was a big improvement over last year....my younger son's car barely made it down the track! 

I am also proud to say that my boys actually did build their cars.  They did the cutting.  They did the sanding.  They did the painting.  They did the gluing.  Not me, not their dad.  They had the assistance and guidance of their grandfather but they did the work.
