If you've been visiting my blog for a while you may have caught on that my husband and I usually take a walk somewhere fun every Friday. They seem to be getting derailed a lot lately thanks to the awful weather and for the past two weeks, my surgery.
Yesterday I was feeling so cooped up I couldn't stand it anymore. I still can't drive and I looked at hubby and told him he had to get me out of this house. It was POURING outside and the wind was something out of the Wizard of Oz. But I didn't care. I had to get out. His response was "well, I don't think we can go for our walk!"
So friends, this week our weekly walk was through the craft store. Yes, you heard me right.
My girlfriend holds an Ornament Exchange Party every year. We really have a blast, we bring a pot luck dinner, a grab bag gift and a home made ornament for every person there. We go home with 15 different ornaments, a fun gift and a holiday spirit from having fun with friends and enjoying good food. Not everyone is super crafty but everyone gets into the spirit and finds SOMETHING to come up with that they can make, no matter their craftiness ability. My invitation came right before I was going into the hospital for my surgery. I figured I could research ornaments on the computer during my recovery. Which is exactly what I did.
When hubby pointed out our weekly walk was out of the question I asked him if he would take me to the craft store so I could get my supplies. I knew this wouldn't be his first choice of destinations but I also knew that he understood how closed in I was beginning to feel. So he took me. And we walked down almost every aisle...thus turning it into our weekly walk. He even held the basket for me. Wasn't that sweet?
